EnviroMax® Imidacloprid

Imidacloprid is a systemic chloronicotinyl insecticide belonging to the class of neonicotinoid insecticides. Imidacloprid acts as a neurotoxin and interferes with the transmission of nerve impulses in insects by binding to specific nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.

Due to Imidacloprids safety and efficacy, farmers and pest managers world-wide use this insecticide in their pest control programs. As an insecticide spray, Imidacloprid is applied to a wide variety of agricultural crops, seed treatments, ornamental plants, turf and trees. In landscaping,  the largest use by far is on lawns or sports turf-grass as a treatment for beetle larvae. Imidacloprid is also highly effective against boring insects of Oak and Birch, and hence is useful for protection of timber products. Imidacloprid is systemic, meaning that it provides protection against insects by moving from soil into the leaves of plants, and is effective at very low levels (nanogram and picogram). Hence, Imidacloporid treatments are applied at very low concentrations (e.g. 55-140 g/Ha). Imidacloprid is also effective for termite and household cockroach and ant control, and due to the low toxicity to mammals, is also used as a flea treatment for dogs and cats.
